Park Avenue Summer
No surprise at all that was Park Avenue Summer feels so - brilliant bright white panels, of tall reeds and grasses sharing a room in a smart design AvroKO. Chef Craig Koketsu tunic custom kitchen is seriously never seen seersucker. The surprise is how how good his food is: peekytoe crab found subtle silk gregarious fellow lawyer and a powerful gazpacho julienne. Tired old caprese is born again inside ravioli with yellow tomato coulis scintillating. Soft shell crab could not be crisper, with strawberries balanced against the passion fruit, soybeans and white lawyer, an unlikely gathering of works.
Received the head of a fixation of lawyer? Here, it is again, fennel in a citrus vinaigrette shoring exquisitely cooked lobsters. Alas, John Dory is unfortunately overcooked, although I am wild poached egg brioche crust with summer truffles, and the excellent lamb chops. Adventurous fans will love the cocktail bar do-it-yourself, a reception area with freshly squeezed fruit juice and pile-ons stashed in the galleries of ice.
Yes, it's expensive, but I doubt more than estimated East will be put off by high-priced starters and entrees at $ 45 with food this delicious. However, some training would be useful. Managers cringe as runners and bus boys go wild. I worry about a boy and the master key of which exhorts us to "Enjoy. Okay?"
Fairly quickly, the walls, snap-on seat covers, flowers, the tunic of the head is no doubt menus, of course, will turn into Park Avenue Autumn.
"Do you think it will work?" Alan Stillman asks his son Michael's tribute Joe Baum Four Seasons. Why not? Especially if it draws criticism and neophiliacs back when the leaves turn red and gold to see and taste what is new.
100, East 63rd Street at Park Av. 212 644 1900
***
To be frank, Joe Baum's Four Seasons - Non-flauntng expense-spared makeover all three months - never made a profit, and Restaurant Associates rudely evicted from his office and the Park Avenue pad, which was an advantage fine accessory. Baum fantasy was left to be orchestrated by a trio of intelligent and passionate Hungarian theater. First, George Lang and Paul Kovi and Tom Margittai, who bought the place where RA fainted. So Joe Baum revolutionary concept in the history and development today as part of its third plan with its interior still handsome Philip Johnson designed and fascinating power of its extensive long-term Power Lunch.

Marilyn Horne - I Will Breathe A Mountain ~ Songs of Barber, Bernstein & Bolcom / Martin Katz, Tokyo String Quartet List Price: $11.98 Sale Price: $10.74 Used From: $2.88 |
|
Though Horne is audibly at the end of her long and rich career, she did a good deed for American music with this disc, which consists of songs by Samuel Barber, Leonard Bernstein, and a new song cycle by William Bolcom, from which the disc takes its title. Horne's voice has a quiver, a lack of center, almost as if it refuses to stop singing Rossini (Horne's lifelong specialty). However, it's worth buying for the Bolcom cycle, which is one of his best vocal works, typically an eclectic, natural outgrowth of Bernstein's style with Horne gamely employing a wide range of vocal techniques with more eloquence than one could hope for. --David Patrick Stearns I Will Breathe A Mtn by HORNE, MARILYNThis product is manufactured on demand using CD-R recordable media. A Great Railroad At Work: The New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad Co. [VHS Video] List Price: $45.00 Used From: $24.00 |
|
(VHS Video) For years The New Haven called itself "The Aristocrat of New England Transportation". While this slogan pampered its Boston Brahmin and Wall Street commuting clientele, it hardly defined the NYNH&H. A Great Railroad at Work, sponsored by the New Haven in 1942, shows the railroad as a brawny, fleet footed freight and passenger system that combined class with clockwork service. It also had the most diverse roster of equipment of any railroad in the United States and probably the world: electric locomotives, steamers, buses, trolleys, self-powered MU cars, plus tugs, barges and ferries. The 355 mm black and white images are as sharp today in this video as they were when the film was first shown in theatres and to community audiences 50 years ago. See archival views of the legendary passenger express "The Yankee Clipper", driven by an elegantly liveried 4-6-4 Hudson; New Haven's high speed electric and steam corridors; Park Avenue Viaduct, one of the great feats of railroad engineering, and Grand Central, the grandest terminal of them all. And much, much more. |
