How ladder shelves can transform your home
Everybody likes buying new pieces of furniture for their homes or extra fittings to keep their house looking good. Though due to the recent economic downturn many home owners are holding on tightly to their wallets, afraid of what the future holds. Most of the time they come in 5 tier heights, though there are also a few brands that make them higher, the top most shelf will be the smallest and each shelf below will gradually get larger similar to a staircase formation. You will find a variety of different styles in your local home depot; the two main varieties are the ‘Freestanding' and ‘leaning' types. The freestanding ladder shelf has back support so that it can be placed in any space and remains standing on its own. Alternatively the leaning shelf needs to be bolted to a wall in order to stay upright. Each has its own benefits, the freestanding one can be placed anywhere in your house, but there is a risk of it falling over; the leaning shelf has the extra support of the wall so it can support much heavier weights.

Aside from the leaning and freestanding ladder shelves, this product also comes in other varieties. There is a freestanding vertical ladder shelf, which looks very different to the A-Shaped shelf, imagine a tall narrow CD rack. An example of the vertical ladder shelf is the ‘Opus' design it looks like the letter ‘S' turned over on its side. This particular style has a retro feel to it that may appeal to younger home owners looking for a trendy interior accessory. The downside to this type of shelf is its price, because of the unique shape and the fact that it is Made From good quality oak, this item will set you back much more than the price of a regular A-Shape ladder shelf.
