The UK network operator Orange is claiming that this year's Black is in fact Purple with the release of their third colored handset - the LG KU990 Viewty Purple.
Over the past three months the network has also released some other interesting purple colored mobile phones that include the Samsung G600, Samsung J700 and Sony Ericsson W380i. All of these models offer exactly the same features, design and technology found in the other color variants of the same model but all come with purple colored exterior finishes. Whether that be the metallic purple of the G600 and J700 or the matte purple of the W380i.
The new Purple LG Viewty adds some real color to the range which up until now consisted of just black and silver, the manufacturer is also planning to introduce a pink version of the phone for female mobile phones users. The new purple model offers exactly the same technology and specifications found in the silver and black editions but now comes in a metallic finished, purple casing.
The LG KU990 Viewty is one of the first YouTube enabled handsets to be released in the UK, as with other YouTube enabled handsets, videos can be uploaded directly from your mobile to your YouTube account without the need for downloading on to your PC in order to complete file conversion before uploading, its also worth mentioning its compatibility with UBlog and Buzznet.
A High End device, the LG Viewty is the successor to the LG Prada and sports a 5 mega pixel camera, there is no keypad but instead functions are controlled on the 3 inch touchscreen display.
But apart from being a 3.5G, YouTube and HSDPA enabled handset with an impressive camera in tow, the LG Viewty is packed with features providing an all round entertainment system and working tool.
Features include an MP3 Player, FM Radio, addition of a built-in camera flash and digital zoom, video capture & playback recording 120 fps, picture & video editing software, miroSD memory expansion, inclusion of Google application, bluetooth stereo support, web browser, email access and a document viewer enabling access to Word, Excel, Powerpoint and PDF documents and files.
The LG Viewty in Purple is currently only available on Orange in the UK, the network have signed an exclusive agreement with the manufacturer for a limited time launch period where they will be the only network allowed to connect the handset.
This is not always good news for consumers as they can only choose from the Orange range of animal tariffs. Although they may be able to match their usage requirements to some degree it always helps to have a range of tariffs from different networks to get exactly the right package.
It is likely that after the initial, exclusive launch period has lapsed the purple LG Viewty will be released by further networks, it is just a case of holding out for a little longer in order to get the best deal.
