Dvd Video Wall

There is a single file format specified for use with all the DVD Books A - D.This file system is the UDF/ISO-9660 Bridge format. UDF (Universal Disc Format) was designed specifically for optical media and has evolved from the ISO-9660 format. The benefit of this single file system is the ability for the Dvd Media to be compatible across set top players and personal computers with DVD ROM players.

The top level of organisation on a DVD disc is a volume. The volume contains a single DVD Video zone which contains all the data elements for the set-top video title,

and a DVD others zone which can be used for non-DVD-video data elements such as desktop computer applications.

It is important to note that currently set top players cannot accss the DVD Other zones as they only know how to access the DVD video zone.

Computers can access the DVD Other zones and run applications that allow for a fuller interaction with the DVD Video zone.

DVD Volume structure

At the top of the structure is the DVD as a whole with its DVD other and video zone. Within the DVD video zone is the video manager, which is a master directory for the data elements, followed by 1 to 99 video title sets which inclue the video and audio elements. The video manager usually includes an introductory clip of video such as a logo, and a menu for navigation.

Video Title sets and Video Objects

Following the video manager are the video title sets. A DVD can contain multiple title sets.

A Video Title Set (VTS) is made up of a VTS Menu, and one or more video titles. Titles in turn can be broken down into Parts of Titles (PTT).

The data within the video title is made up of Video Object Sets (VOBS), which Are Made up of one or more Video Objects (VOB). A video object is made up of the video audio, navigation data and subpictures for a program.

It is the VOB which is the fundamental media file element of the DVD disc.

The lowest branch of the DVD structure is the cell. Each VOB can be broken down into one or more cells. A cell may be as large as the entire movie or as small as an MPEG GOP (Group of Pictures).

For example a movie with 5 chapters would have one video manager, one title set, one title, one VOBS made up of one VOB and 10 cells.

Multiple Title Sets and VOBS become apparent when interactive titles are created.

A DVD that included an interactive music video programme with ten artists, each with five videos, artist information.

In this case the disc would have: on video manager, ten Video Title Sets, multiple Titles for each video. The reason for this division is that the DVD Remote Control has both Title and Menu buttons. The user can click on the Title button to return to the main DVD menu to select a title, or click on the Menu button to go to the menus for the particular title being viewed.

List Price: $199.96

The AS3B is a tri-shelf cable management system. It can be used with or without a Plasma/LCD mount. This unit is designed to fit under your display and provide an on wall solution for other components such as cable boxes, DVD players, game consoles, and stereo components. There are three 2.25" holes on the aluminum plate that allow you to cleanly run your cables up to your TV or down to another component, as well as out the bottom to an outlet. After reviewing our competition we realized that most shelving units need to be mounted directly into a wall stud. In most cases the wall stud is placed to the right or to the left of the display, which is not where most people prefer to have their shelves mounted. This is still the most secure option however, after significant research we've fount that using the correct toggle bolts can allow you to mount your shelving unit wherever you see fit. With the combination of four of these toggle bolts the shelving unit is able to hold well over 70LBS safely. Each individual toggle bolt provides 75LBS of support. Please not that a good toggle bolt is still only as good as the quality of the drywall it is mounted into. If you have water damage or .25" drywall please add a support for your shelving unit.

Australia released, NTSC/Region 0 DVD: LANGUAGES: English ( Dolby Digital 5.1 ), English ( Dolby Digital Stereo ), English ( Dolby Linear PCM ), SPECIAL FEATURES: Booklet, Box Set, Collectors Edition, Interactive Menu, Multi-DVD Set, Photo Gallery, Remastered, Scene Access, SYNOPSIS: 6 Disc Box Set - 3 CDs; 2 DVDs & Blu-Ray Disc: The Immersion Edition inaugurating the series with a six-disc box set of Dark Side of the Moon. A ludicrously lavish box that truly does immerse a listener within the album's world. The original album, remastered again in 2011 by James Guthrie, accounts for the first disc, along with the first DVD-Audio that contains Guthries 5.1 mix from 2003, and Alan Parsons' quadraphonic mix from 1973, never before reissued. Also never issued officially is the Floyd's live set from Wembley in 1974, here as a second CD, nor has Parsons' original 1972 mix, issued here on an exclusive CD that also contains The Hard Way, from the abandoned Household Objects album, live versions of blueprints for Dark Side in Any Colour You Like, The Mortality Sequence, and The Travel Sequence, the latter also present in a studio version, and demos of Us and Them and Money. All this doesn't account for the books, the collector cards and prints, the backstage and ticket replicas, the coasters and scarf. As nice as the packaging is, the real news of the set is the bonus audio: the live concert is excellent, the Parsons mix is notably different in parts - particularly during extended instrumental sections on The Great Gig in the Sky, Us and Them, Any Colour You Like, and Brain Damage - and the skeletal demos, along with the live run-throughs, contain the thrill of hearing an overly familiar piece at its tentative origin. ...Pink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon - Immersion - Collectors Box - 6 Disc Set ( Pink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon - Immersion Box Set )

By any rational measure, Alan Parker's cinematic interpretation of Pink Floyd: The Wall is a glorious failure. Glorious because its imagery is hypnotically striking, frequently resonant, and superbly photographed by the gifted cinematographer Peter Biziou. And a failure because the entire exercise is hopelessly dour, loyal to the bleak themes and psychological torment of Roger Waters's great musical opus, and yet utterly devoid of the humor that Waters certainly found in his own material. Any attempt to visualize The Wall would be fraught with artistic danger, and Parker succumbs to his own self-importance, creating a film that's as fascinating as it is flawed. The film is, for better and worse, the fruit of three artists in conflict--Parker indulging himself, and Waters in league with designer Gerald Scarfe, whose brilliant animated sequences suggest that he should have directed and animated this film in its entirety. Fortunately, this clash of talent and ego does not prevent The Wall from being a mesmerizing film. Boomtown Rats frontman Bob Geldof (in his screen debut) is a fine choice to play Waters's alter ego--an alienated, "comfortably numb" rock star whose psychosis manifests itself as an emotional (and symbolically physical) wall between himself and the cold, cruel world. Weaving Waters's autobiographical details into his own jumbled vision, Parker ultimately fails to combine a narrative thread with experimental structure. It's a rich, bizarre, and often astonishing film that will continue to draw a following, but the real source of genius remains the music of Roger Waters. --Jeff Shannon

At long last Pink Floyd: Pulse has arrived on DVD, and Floyd fans already know it's a major cause to celebrate. The original VHS release was a milestone bestseller, but it seemed to take forever for the DVD to arrive, with numerous delays while Floyd guitarist David Gilmour and long-time Floyd producer James Guthrie labored to restore, re-edit, and remix this legendary concert video in 5.1-channel Dolby Surround Sound. The resulting two-disc set was well worth the wait: While the limitations of the original video source are still evident in the sometimes-hazy image quality (Gilmour would later admit the concert should have been captured on film), Floyd fans will unanimously agree that Pulse has never looked or sounded better, and only the absence of group co-founder Roger Waters prevents this from being the ultimate document of Pink Floyd in performance. (Even without Waters, it's easily one of the group's most impressive stage productions.) Gracefully directed with minimal intrusion by veteran music video and concert director David Mallet, and shot on video during Pink Floyd's two-week stint at London's Earls Court Exhibition Centre in October 1994, this 145-minute performance (from Floyd's Division Bell tour) is a sonic marvel to behold. Under a massive arch festooned with then-state-of-the-art laser, lighting, and projection systems, the 1987 incarnation of Pink Floyd (Gilmour, keyboardist Richard Wright, and drummer Nick Mason) and their stellar supporting band kicks off with "Shine on You Crazy Diamond" (a loving tribute to Floyd co-founder Syd Barrett), followed by four tracks from The Division Bell, two from 1987's A Momentary Lapse of Reason, "Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2)" from 1979's magnum opus The Wall, and leading into intermission with an absolutely stunning performance of "One of These Days," the timeless opening track from 1971's Meddle. The centerpiece of Disc 2 is a near-perfect performance of 1974's Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety--reason enough to make this a must-have DVD for even the most casual Floyd admirers. And while no one will ever re-create the sheer magnificence of Clare Torry's original tour de force vocals on "The Great Gig in the Sky," it's safe to say that backup singers Sam Brown, Claudia Fontaine, and Durga McBroom deliver the next best thing, in addition to seamless contributions throughout the concert. After the closing heartbeat of "Eclipse," the concert ends with encore performances of "Wish You Were Here," "Comfortably Numb," and a no-holds-barred, pyrotechnically explosive rendition of The Wall's "Run Like Hell," all showcasing Gilmour's guitar mastery with frequent close-ups of his picking and fret-work as seen throughout the concert. (Like Gilmour, Mason and Wright were never dynamic onstage, and that's true here as well, but their technical precision is fully evident, and while guitarist Tim Renwick and saxophonist Dick Parry are each given moments to shine, bassist Guy Pratt is a worthy substitution for Waters, especially when vocally sparring with Gilmour on "Run Like Hell.") With beautiful packaging, an 8-page booklet, and menu designs by long-time Floyd associate Storm Thorgerson, the DVDs offer an abundance of bonus features including "Bootlegging the Bootleggers," featuring surprisingly good-quality "boot" video performances of "What Do You Want From Me?," "On the Turning Away," "Poles Apart," and "Marooned." The surreal round-ratio screen films seen throughout the concert can all be viewed independently (still in round format, and several offered in both original and alternate versions). Music videos for "Learning to Fly" and "Take It Back" are included on Disc 1, along with "Tour Stuff" including maps, itineraries, and stage plans for the 1994 tour. "Say Goodbye to Life as We Know It" is a playful backstage video (mostly involving the production staff's ongoing quest for a good pint of beer), and after delivering a heartfelt introduction to Pink Floyd's 1996 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (with Roger Waters and Syd Barrett acknowledged by Gilmour), Smashing Pumpkins leader Billy Corgan joins Gilmour and Wright for a moving acoustic performance of "Wish You Were Here" (directed at Waters, perhaps?). Additional features include album cover art, a photo gallery, and the concert-only audio choice between a 448kbps audio bitstream or a higher-quality 640kbps stream for higher-quality DVD players. The system set-up feature ensures that audiophiles will achieve optimum speaker performance in keeping with Pink Floyd's exacting technical standards. In tandem with the superior concert presentation, these features make Pulse one of the best--if not the best--music DVDs of 2006, guaranteed to satisfy Floyd fans for many years to come. --Jeff Shannon More from Pink Floyd and David Gilmour Pulse (CD) Is There Anybody Out There?/The Wall Live Pink Floyd 1980-81 Pink Floyd--The Wall 25th Anniversary (DVD) The Division Bell, Pink Floyd Delicate Sound of Thunder, Pink Floyd A Momentary Lapse of Reason, Pink Floyd Live 8 on DVD--Featuring Pink Floyd Pink Floyd--Live at Pompeii (Director's Cut) (DVD), Pink Floyd On an Island, David Gilmour

UP - Blu-Ray Movie

At a time when too many animated films consist of anthropomorphized animals cracking sitcom one-liners and flatulence jokes, the warmth, originality, humor, and unflagging imagination of Up feel as welcome as rain in a desert. Carl Fredericksen (voice by Ed Asner) ranks among the most unlikely heroes in recent animation history. A 78- year-old curmudgeon, he enjoyed his modest life as a balloon seller because he shared it with his adventurous wife Ellie (Ellie Docter). But she died, leaving him with memories and the awareness that they never made their dream journey to Paradise Falls in South America. When well-meaning officials consign Carl to Shady Oaks Retirement Home, he rigs thousands of helium balloons to his house and floats to South America. The journey's scarcely begun when he discovers a stowaway: Russell (Jordan Nagai), a chubby, maladroit Wilderness Explorer Scout who's out to earn his Elderly Assistance Badge. In the tropical jungle, Carl and Russell find more than they bargained for: Charles Muntz (Christopher Plummer), a crazed explorer whose newsreels once inspired Carl and Ellie; Kevin, an exotic bird with a weakness for chocolate; and Dug (Bob Peterson), an endearingly dim golden retriever fitted with a voice box. More importantly, the travelers discover they need each other: Russell needs a (grand)father figure; Carl needs someone to enliven his life without Ellie. Together, they learn that sharing ice-cream cones and counting the passing cars can be more meaningful than feats of daring-do and distant horizons. Pete Docter (Monsters, Inc. ) and Bob Peterson direct the film with consummate skill and taste, allowing the poignant moments to unfold without dialogue to Michael Giacchnio's vibrant score. Building on their work in The Incredibles and Ratatouille, the Pixar crew offers nuanced animation of the stylized characters. Even by Pixar's elevated standards, Up is an exceptional film that will appeal of audiences of all ages. Rated PG for some peril and action. --Charles SolomonStills from Up (Click for larger image)

Wall-E (Three-Disc Blu-ray / DVD Combo) Wall-E (Three-Disc Blu-ray / DVD Combo)
List Price: $39.99
Sale Price: $20.45
Used From: $16.36

Pixar genius reigns in this funny romantic comedy, which stars a robot who says absolutely nothing for a full 25 minutes yet somehow completely transfixes and endears himself to the audience within the first few minutes of the film. As the last robot left on earth, Wall-E (voiced by Ben Burtt) is one small robot--with a big, big heart--who holds the future of earth and mankind squarely in the palm of his metal hand. He's outlasted all the "Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class" robots that were assigned some 700 years ago to clean up the environmental mess that man made of earth while man vacationed aboard the luxury spaceship Axiom. Wall-E has dutifully gone about his job compacting trash, the extreme solitude broken only by his pet cockroach, but he's developed some oddly human habits and ideas. When the Axiom sends its regularly scheduled robotic EVE probe (Elissa Knight) to earth, Wall-E is instantly smitten and proceeds to try to impress EVE with his collection of human memorabilia. EVE's directive compels her to bring Wall-E's newly collected plant sprout to the captain of the Axiom and Wall-E follows in hot pursuit. Suddenly, the human world is turned upside down and the Captain (Jeff Garlin) joins forces with Wall-E and a cast of other misfit robots to lead the now lethargic people back home to earth. Wall-E is a great family film with the most impressive aspect being the depth of emotion conveyed by a simple robot--a machine typically considered devoid of emotion, but made so absolutely touching by the magic of Pixar animation. Also well-worth admiring are the sweeping views from space, the creative yet disturbing vision of what strange luxuries a future space vacation might offer, and the innovative use of trash in a future cityscape. Underneath the slapstick comedy and touching love story is a poignant message about the folly of human greed and its potential effects on earth and the entire human race. Wall-E is preceded in theaters by the comical short Presto in which a magician's rabbit, unfed one too many times takes his revenge against the egotistical magician. The Beastie Boys are among the most influential groups of the last two decades. As their music has opened hip-hop to a wider audience and changed the parameters of its sound, their ambitious music videos have carried the medium to new levels of artistic expression. This groundbreaking anthology showcases the vast potential of technology, with most of the eighteen videos containing alternate visual angles and multiple audio tracks. There are hundreds of possible image and sound combinations, including new surround mixes, versions, instrumentals, and more than 40 remixes (by such artists as Moby, Fatboy Slim and the Prunes), including many new remixes created exclusively for this release. Loaded with never-before-seen footage and unreleased music tracks, this also contains a trove of rare still photos and exclusive audio commentary by the band and the video directors. Benny's Video

Benny's Video

$15.29

For 14-year-old Benny, anything recorded on videotape is inherently better and more real than what he can see with his naked eyes. He is barely noticed by his professional parents and spends most of his time either viewing wild and violent films or looking at the view outside his window through his video camera. One day, on a whim, he invites a girl to his house and coolly murders her while his video camera is rolling. Then he hides the body temporarily in his closet and goes off to a party. The calm and unexcited way his parents discuss the situation when he explains it to him, using his video film to demonstrate, makes it clear that his own psychopathology has a long background in that of his parents. ~ Clarke Fountain, Rovi
