Sorry all you men out there, but this article is aimed primarily at women who want to attract a true soul mate. Don't be put off though -- you'll still gain lots from the following top tips for women:
TIP #1 -- Wear pink!
Wearing something in the colour pink -- any shade, will grab the attention of would-be suitors. Men in particular seem to be very attracted to the colour pink, and it is well known as the colour connected to love. Pink gives off the loving, caring, and affectionate vibrations associated with love to potential partners.
It whispers "Come hither, I won't bite". Unlike the colour red, which conveys a different, more dangerous signal! Most women know that it is not too difficult to attract a man who is only interested in sex. The hard part is attracting a true soul mate, who will love you as an equal, stay forever faithful to you, and treat you as a Queen -- forever!
TIP #2 -- Wear Jasmine perfume
Wear perfume that in heavily laced with Jasmine Oil. This particular perfume oil has been used by women to attract men for centuries. Use sparingly though as it is powerfully potent!
Using a blended perfume containing other ingredients that incorporate and compliment Jasmine is perhaps even more potent. Other scents to add are Ylang Ylang, Rose or Neroli. All these are renowned for their strong connection with the heart and love.
TIP #3 -- Sniff him out
To attract, recognise and reciprocate a real love involves all 5 senses, the most important of which is smell. Just as animals do in nature, we can smell the right mate for us. This of course is instinctive and you should 'sniff' out the right man for you. You'll need to get physically close to a potential love partner and get past any fragrance they may be wearing. This is where the office party with close, intimate dancing has its advantages! Smell all the men you are attracted to and if their scent excites you and makes you weak at the knees, then you are halfway to identifying a perfect soul mate for you.
TIP #4 -- Jump in the frog pond
Lots of women spend their time waiting for a handsome Prince to come knocking at their door, to carry them away for a life of bliss and happiness. This only happens in fairy tales unfortunately! To find your perfect Prince you need to kiss a few frogs first, and even the odd toad too! You'll need to take every opportunity to mix and socialise with as many potential mates as possible. Accept lots of invitations and never miss an opportunity to meet new people. Treat it as a man hunt, to track down your perfect soul mate, and don't worry if you have to throw a few back.
TIP #5 -- Be the best "You", you can be
It may be an old cliche but you must first really love yourself before you can expect others to do the same. If you are the healthiest person you can be -- body, mind and soul -- then you'll soon find a soul mate.
Your physical appearance should be the best you can make it. This means striving for a healthy shape and weight by dumping the junk food, eating only good unprocessed nutritious food, drinking water and doing daily exercise. Good hair, nails, clear complexion and feeling good about yourself naturally follows this healthy regimen.
Mentally, you need to strive to learn new and varied things continually. This not only keeps the old grey matter healthy but also has the added benefit of making you knowledgeable and interesting to potential partners.
Emotionally, the natural outcome of a healthy body and mind is a real boost in self esteem and a boosted confidence. You'll feel good because you look good and feel confident that you have valid views and opinions on a wide range of subjects. And there is nothing more attractive than a confident, happy and interesting person.
Be the best person you can, and you'll be ready to allow a soul mate into your life.
TIP #6 -- Smile
Sounds simple, but a warm, genuine smile is so attractive. Just smiling more will open up so many more opportunities, you will be surprised.
To attract admirers just try it out and you'll soon see.
TIP #7 -- Cast a spell!
This is easier than it sounds and is not at all spooky!
Simple ingredients, a candle or two and real intent are all that's required to cast a simple attract a soul mate Love Spell. Here's a simple one that anyone can Cast themselves:
Light a pink candle and scatter dried sage around its base. Walk around the candle 3 times and chant 3 times aloud this rhyme:
Grant to me my wish I make
Of love to give and love to take
Equal and fair bring henceforth to me
Love to share
So mote it be
Now blow out the candle and imagine your perfect soul mate at your side.
Practice these simple things in your life and you are sure to light a light within you that others will see from a distance!

The Golden Spruce: A True Story of Myth, Madness, and Greed List Price: $15.95 Sale Price: $6.52 Used From: $0.06 |
|
A tale of obsession so fierce that a man kills the thing he loves most: the only giant golden spruce on earth. As vividly as Jon Krakauer put readers on Everest, John Vaillant takes us into the heart of North America's last great forest, where trees grow to eighteen feet in diameter, sunlight never touches the ground, and the chainsaws are always at work. When a shattered kayak and camping gear are found on an uninhabited island, they reignite a mystery surrounding a shocking act of protest. Five months earlier, logger-turned-activist Grant Hadwin had plunged naked into a river in British Columbia's Queen Charlotte Islands, towing a chainsaw. When his night's work was done, a unique Sitka spruce, 165 feet tall and covered with luminous golden needles, teetered on its stump. Two days later it fell. The tree, a fascinating puzzle to scientists, was sacred to the Haida, a fierce seafaring tribe based in the Queen Charlottes. Vaillant recounts the bloody history of the Haida and the early fur trade, and provides harrowing details of the logging industry, whose omnivorous violence would claim both Hadwin and the golden spruce. |

Who Owns the World: The Surprising Truth About Every Piece of Land on the Planet List Price: $15.99 Sale Price: $4.43 Used From: $0.98 |
|
You don't have to be a student of geography or cartography to have an interest in the world around you, especially with globalization making our planet seem smaller than ever. Now you can IM someone in Alaska, purchase coffee beans from Timor-Leste, and visit Dubai. But what do we really know about these lands? WHO OWNS THE WORLD presents the results of the first-ever landownership survey of all 197 states and 66 territories of the world, and reveals facts both startling and eye-opening. You'll learn that: --Only 15% of the world's population lays claim to landownership, and that landownership in too few hands is probably the single greatest cause of poverty. --Queen Elizabeth II owns 1/6 of the entire land surface on earth (nearly 3 times the size of the U.S.). --The Lichtenstein royal family is wealthier than the Grimaldis of Monaco. --80% of the American population is crammed in urban areas. --The least crowded state is Alaska, with 670 acres per person. The most crowded is New Jersey, with .7 acres per person. --60% of America's population are property owners. That's behind the UK (69% homeownership). --And much, much more! With its relevance to contemporary issues and culture, WHO OWNS THE WORLD makes for fascinating reading. Both entertaining and educational, it provides cocktail party conversation for years to come and is guaranteed to change the way you view the U.S. and the world. |

Social and Environmental Impacts of the James Bay Hydroelectric Project (Mcgill-Queen's Native and Northern Series) List Price: $32.95 Sale Price: $29.91 Used From: $1.97 |
|
Planning and construction of the James Bay Hydroelectric project began in the early 1970s, when the effect of such projects on the physical and social environment was seldom considered. As the project matured, however, its unique and diverse environmental impacts came under intense scrutiny on both sides of the border. The first mega-scale hydro project to be built in the sub-Arctic, capable of generating as much electricity as fifteen nuclear power plants, its impact includes disruption of vast areas in an extremely fragile ecosystem as well as displacement of native peoples and the introduction of dangerous levels of mercury into their food supply. The debate over these complex environmental issues has been further complicated by political issues stemming from the importance of the project to the economic development of Quebec and the sale of at least ten percent of the electricity generated the United States. The contributors examine core issues of the controversy both in relation to James Bay and to other large hydroelectric projects, such as the Aswan dam in Egypt and the Three Gorges dam in China. Providing insights from an unusual variety of disciplines, the authors offer important considerations that must be taken into account as Quebec assesses additional phases of hydroelectric development of the watershed east of Hudson Bay. Contributors include Raymond B. Coppinger (Hampshire College), Bill Dale Roebuck (Dartmouth Medical School), Will Ryan (Hampshire College), Adrian Tanner (Memorial University), Stanley L. Warner (Hampshire College), Kessler E. Woodward (University of Alaska), and Oran R.Young (Dartmouth College). James F. Hornig is professor emeritus of chemistry and environmental studies, Dartmouth College. |

The Queen's English $9.99 From chips" and "crumbs" to "spending a penny," The Queen's English is your indispensable guide to surviving and thriving in the tricky byways of the English language, which has shown many a poor soul the way out for little more than twanging a vowel, splitting an infinitive or, crime of all crimes, saying dinner instead of tea. With The Queen's English there's no need to become "flummoxed" ever again. This must-have A to Z guide uncovers the quintessential meanings behind more than 100 familiar words and phrases of the distinctively British lexicon, including: By hook or by crook (adv. phrase): It is good to find a phrase in common use that goes back as far as this one, and which appears (though not entirely proven) to link back to England's feudal past. In medieval times when the peasantry were not allowed to cut down trees, they were permitted nonetheless to gather firewood from loose or dead branches which could be obtained using "hook" (bill hook, a traditional cutting tool) or "crook," a staff with a curved end. No doubt the desperate peasant often exceeded the strict use of these tools, and so the sense is to achieve something by whatever means possible. The first recorded use of the phrase is from the fourteenth century. Gazump (vt.): Usually so proud of their reputation for playing fair, the English have a curious blind spot when it comes to buying and selling houses. To "gazump" is to raise the price of a piece of real estate after the sale has been agreed but before the contract is signed, usually on the pretext that the owner has received a higher offer elsewhere. The original buyer is then forced to raise their offer or the property goes to the higher bidder. This unethical but not illegal practice appeared first with the spelling "gazoomph" and was derived from an older and more general term "gazumph" (or gezumph) for the various kinds of swindling that go on at dishonest auctions. In a nutshell (adv. phrase): "Oh God, I could be bounded in a nutshell and count myself a King of infinite space..." cries Hamlet in Shakespeare's tragic play. But the meaning of the expression, namely, to put much into a small space, goes way back to classical times, to Pliny's Natural History where he writes: "Cicero records that a parchment copy of Homer's poem The Iliad was enclosed in a nutshell ( in nuce )." In Shakespeare's own time, a Bible is said to have been produced that could fit into a nutshell, and that curiosity may have come to the playwright's notice. People like us (np.): Often abbreviated to PLU, this phrase is used by those of a certain social class to approve of others as acceptable by birth and station, and originates in the 1940s milieu typified by the artistic, wayward, and eccentric Mitford sisters, daughters of the second Baron Redesdale. We get a flavor of the attitude where Nancy Mitford, in a letter to her sister Jessica (August 28, 1957), declared that "People Like Us are ne |

The Real Queen of France $5.83 'The resplendent sex symbol of the splendid century' The reign of Athenais de Montespan as principal mistress of Louis XIV corresponds with the most glorious period of the Grand Siecle. Athenais was 'the true Queen of France', symbol of a dazzling French culture in the seventeenth century. As a lover, she risked the disgrace of double adultery to conduct an affair which scandalized Europe; as a patron she supported many of the leaders of the cultural renaissance including Moliere and Racine; as a mother she is the ancestor of most of the royal houses of Europe. The greatest beauty of her day, Athenais lived her life publicly and sensationally until accusations of witchcraft forced her from power in the 'Affair of the Poisons', a mystery which remains unsolved. She fascinates not only because she achieved power at a time when it was denied to most women, but because she achieved that power through her manipulation of a prescribed role. |
