Mattress Pad and Mattress Topper – Is there any difference?
Oftentimes mattress pads and mattress toppers are referred to interchangeably. A mattress pad and a mattress topper are both designed to increase comfort and prolong the life of the mattress. They are constructed of different materials and designed to fill different needs.
A mattress topper and a mattress pad are completely separate from the mattress unlike a pillow-Top Mattress which is a mattress which cannot be flipped because of an added pillow-top feature. The most popular mattress topper is isotonic Memory Foam because it molds to the body as it has no spring.
Other people prefer featherbeds for their softness. A featherbed mattress topper may be filled with genuine down or synthetic down. Down is warm in cold weather and cool in hot temperature. A Foam Mattress pad like the featherbed topper is placed on top of the mattress and held in place by a fitted sheet.
A mattress pad and a mattress topper are actually different although they are frequently considered the same thing. A mattress topper is usually thicker than a mattress pad. A mattress pad is most often made of quilted cotton or synthetic material. It provides additional padding to a mattress and often used to protect the mattress.
