Wooden sleigh beds tend to be at the High End of the market as they Are Made from solid hardwoods such as oak, teak, maple and cherry. This means they can be quite expensive to buy but the touch of luxury they bring to a room cannot be replicated with cheaper materials.

Wooden sleight beds are solid, large looking items of furniture but they typically come in several sections to allow for easier delivery. This also makes it much easier to get them into bedrooms (which are generally upstairs) and assembly is straightforward.

Caring for Wooden Sleigh Beds

Wooden sleigh beds are very durable and will last for years if looked after properly. It is important to buy wooden sleigh beds that have been treated or varnished. This will ensure that wood has a protective coating to shield against UV light or stains. Make sure you use a wood polish on your wooden sleigh bed to help keep the wood supple and looking clean and polished. If you spill any water or other liquids on the wood make sure you wipe it off immediately before it can stain.  If the wood gets scratched then apply a little polish into the scratch to protect the raw wood. You can buy French polishing repair kits which will help you to tackle small scratches but if the damage is significant then it is a good idea to call in a specialist furniture repair surface. Wooden sleigh beds are expensive so it is worth looking after them and keeping them in good condition so they last as long as possible.
