The stories of bed frame of your bed
A bed frame is the integral part of a bed which is used to position a mattress or setting a foundation on the floor. In general bed frame is made of metal or wood outline that makes the basic foundation of the bed. Bed frame provides extra strength to bed to stand straight and to retain the mattress in its own place. It is often called bed stead also and it has different integral parts like side boards, footboard, and headboards, Center Support rail, bed posts and some other common features.
Bed frames are commonly made with different materials like brass, wood, and steel but look-wise seem similar in shape. The frames Are Made of four legs and two of these legs remain at the front side and rest two remains attached on the hind portion of the bed. The position of the legs makes perfect rectangle form; in some frame extension of legs are also found and these are called as bed posts.
Larger beds are called queen sized beds or king sized beds. In these larger beds, a wooden or metallic piece is placed crosswise the length of the frame. This bar supplies extra support for the unsupported middle of larger mattresses. However in single bed or Double Bed mattresses, the extra support is not that required because in these cases the mattresses remain set by the edge shelves on the edges of the said bed frame.
The looks of bed frame can be customized depending on the wall color or the color of room upholstery. In order to produce a designer look of the frame the legs of the same can be painted, stained, or can be covered by fabrics. The designs of antique bed frames are found artistic and decorative depending on its structure and elemental design. In some cases antique frames are available with brass legs, either made with brass or with brass plating.
Metal and wood made frames are mostly common and widely used all over the world for providing better support of mattress over the bed. While wooden frame looks classy and elegant, iron frame looks trendy and almost maintenance free so never attracts any special care-giving issue. On contrary iron frames are least combustible whereas wooden frames have markedly low level fire resistance. Wooden frames are mostly available on the four legs while metal frames are found on wheels.
Frames are available in different color options irrespective of its basic materials; the common color variants available easily in bed frames are mahogany, brown, black, brown etc. While the color black goes well with all sort of room décor, mahogany or wooden color matches well with wooden furnishing silken upholstery.
The story of bed frame will never be over unless platform frame is discussed. The platform is made of a box type platform which aids as supportive to box springs and mattresses. Mostly water beds are used on platform –bed frames. Captain's bed, which is often opted as best option for kids' bed, comes with drawer under the bed mainly for storage.
