How to Get Minnesota Twins Tickets and Watch Baseball History
Watch the Minnesota Twins on the field with your Twins tickets. Based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the Twins are a professional baseball team. They are a member of the Central Division of American League. From 1982 till date, the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome has been the team’s ballpark. Their unusual name originates from Minnesota's ‘Twin Cities’ area of Minneapolis and St. Paul. Fans have also nicknamed the team as "the Twinkies". The TC bear is the team’s lucky mascot.
The Twins As Senators And Clark Griffith
The club was founded in Washington, D.C. in 1901 as the Washington Senators. From 1911 to 1933, the Senators were a greatly successful franchise in major-league baseball. The team's rosters included Hall of Famers- Goose Goslin, Sam Rice, Joe Cronin, Bucky Harris, and Heinie Manush. Walter Johnson, “Big Train” was an all time great pitcher of the team. Yet, the Senators had a reputation of mediocrity.
Through 1910s and 1920s, Clark Griffith focused as GM and later Team President to lead the Senators. His efforts bore fruit as the Senators won the 1924 World Series. However, the next decade saw the Senators sink all the way down. In fact in the 1940s, the Washington Senators came to be known as "first in war, first in peace, and last in the American League". After Clark Griffith’s death in 1955, the Senators came to be known as the Minnesota Twins when they moved again.
The New Look Of The Twins
In the 1960s, the Twins shifted to Minnesota and their fans welcomed them warmly as many Twins tickets were sold. The talented players of the team at that time included Earl Battey, Harmon Killebrew, Zoilo Versalles, Bob Allison, Camilo Pascual, Jim Kaat, and Lenny Green.
Although the Twins won the American League Pennant in 1965, they were to wait for another 22 years to return to the World Series. Fans did not lose hope even during this dismal period; they continued to buy Twins tickets to watch the team play. The 1970s was a decade long period of slump and in the early 1980s, the Twins fell further.
In 1984, the Twins again changed hands and a Minneapolis banker, Carl Pohlad bought the club. With a few good trades and sensible free agent acquisitions, the team returned to fight for the World Series Championship in 1987 and won it. In 1990s, the Twins fared poorly again but things turned for the better and from 2001 to 2006, the team enjoyed a winning streak against the Chicago White Sox winning the division titles each year.
A Change Of Stadium
The Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome played a vital role in the championship seasons of the Twins. The Twins wished to move from the Metrodome, an outdated baseball ballpark to a new stadium. This yearning received approval in 2006 and the Twins Ballpark, the future stadium of the Twins is currently being developed.
Hall of Famers from the Minnesota Twins include Rod Carew, Steve Carlton, Harmon Killebrew, Paul Molitor, Dave Winfield, and Kirby Puckett. If you want to see some stunning baseball action, you know what to do. Get your Twins tickets from an online broker. Twin tickets online are reliable and delivered right to your doorstep.

You're Invited to Mary-Kate & Ashley's Sleepover Party [VHS] List Price: $4.98 Sale Price: $12.91 Used From: $0.33 |

The Olsen twins try their best to pull an all-nighter in this high-spirited, 25-minute slumber party episode. Mary-Kate and Ashley jumpstart the fun by encouraging their three perky guests to learn some new dance moves. Cue the MTV-style musical numbers; these girls just gotta sing! And they have a song for every activity, from playing video games to making pizza (basically ordering a plain pie, then raiding the fridge for a variety of toppings) and scaring each other--and the boys--with spooky stories and makeup. Cute, tame entertainment for 4- to 7-year-olds who enjoy singing and dancing along. While kids 8 and older are much more likely to hold slumber parties, they might find the material too juvenile (sort of like Barney unmasked). --Liane Thomas |

Man on Wire List Price: $19.98 Sale Price: $8.99 Used From: $2.97 |

Native New Yorkers know to expect the unexpected, but who among them could've predicted that a man would stroll between the towers of the World Trade Center? French high-wire walker Philippe Petit did just that on August 7th, 1974. Petit's success may come as a foregone conclusion, but British filmmaker James Marsh's pulse-pounding documentary still plays more like a thriller than a non-fiction entry--in fact, it puts most thrillers to shame. Marsh (Wisconsin Death Trip, The King) starts by looking at Petit's previous stunts. First, he took on Paris's Notre Dame Cathedral, then Sydney's Harbour Bridge before honing in on the not-yet-completed WTC. The planning took years, and the prescient Petit filmed his meetings with accomplices in France and America. Marsh smoothly integrates this material with stylized re-enactments and new interviews in which participants emerge from the shadows as if to reveal deep, dark secrets which, in a way, they do, since Petit's plan was illegal, "but not wicked or mean." The director documents every step they took to circumvent security, protocol, and physics as if re-creating a classic Jules Dassin or Jean-Pierre Melville caper. Though still photographs capture the feat rather than video, the resulting images will surely blow as many minds now as they did in the 1970s when splashed all over the media. Not only did Petit walk, he danced and even lay down on the cable strung between the skyscrapers. Based on his 2002 memoir, Man on Wire defines the adjective "awe-inspiring." --Kathleen C. Carnivale: The Complete First Season List Price: $29.98 Sale Price: $15.93 Used From: $7.75 |

Carnivàle doesn't waste any time making its--wildly ambitious--aims clear. As carnival manager Samson (Michael J. Anderson, Twin Peaks' diminutive backwards-talker) notes in pilot episode "Milfay," directed by Rodrigo García (son of Gabriel García Marquez), "To each generation [is] born a creature of light and a creature of darkness." With that the story begins. The year is 1934, the setting the Oklahoma dustbowl. In short order, Ben Hawkins (In the Bedroom's Nick Stahl) loses his mother and his home. He's poor, he's alone--he needs a job. So he joins Samson's carnival, en route to the West. Hawkins, naturally, is the good guy. Waiting for him in California is the not so good Brother Justin Crowe (Clancy Brown, The Shawshank Redemption), a fire and brimstone preacher with supernatural powers and a fiercely loyal sister (Amy Madigan). Hawkins, as it turns out, has similar powers.... Created by Daniel Knauf (Wolf Lake), Carnivàle feels like David Lynch (weird, slow, occasionally kinky), plays like American Gothic (Shaun Cassidy's cult series about a good kid and an evil sheriff), and looks like John Ford's Grapes of Wrath. It features one of television's most colorful casts of characters. They include Sophie (Clea DuVall), who reads fortunes--with her comatose mother's assistance, the vaguely sinister Lodz (Patrick Bauchau), blind absinthe-drinker and mentalist (he can see both the future and the past), and Ruthie (Adrienne Barbeau), snake charmer, strongman's mother, and all-around maternal figure. By the final episode of the season ("The Day That Was the Day"), also directed by García, one of these characters will be dead. Carnivàle won five richly deserved technical Emmys for its first year, including awards for cinematography and art direction. Like HBO's edgy Deadwood, it's period drama for people who don't normally like period drama. --Kathleen C. Fennessy CARNIVALE:COMPLETE FIRST SEASON - DVD Movie |
