This is a great piece for special things, but can also be used as a coffee table. The drawers on both front and back are false. Inside the chest is lined with cedar planking. The wood and material must be purchased at your local lumber supply company; we only supply the woodworking plan and instruction booklet to build the project. Our plan and instuctions will guide you through the construction to ensure a perfect project. We also supply hardware kits!

The plan is very versatile, however, as you could easily replace the raised panels with solid pieces and a quick change of scroll work will each give the chest the look of a more traditional cedar "hope" chest. It is a very useful piece of furniture for storing blankets, linens, games, or any number of things and it also makes a great graduation gift. If desired, it can be lined with aromatic red cedar, cedar flakeboard, or made from solid cedar. All joinery is shown in actual size, curved workpieces are all in full size and you can measure and trace straight from the drawing. A bill of materials doubles as an exact cutting list, there is a detailed exploded diagram, and all hardware requirements are provided.
